  The Town of Virgil would like to share an important update regarding Transfer Station ID fees.

By board resolution passed on 01/08/2026, the annual cost of a Virgil Transfer Station ID has been increased. This marks the first increase since 2015. The fee for the first person in a household will change from $10.00 per year to $20.00 per year. Additional household IDs will remain $1.00 each, which simply covers the cost of producing the ID.

It’s also worth remembering that your Transfer Station ID does more than just provide access to waste disposal—it also grants entry to Hope Lake Park during the summer season, adding even more value for residents.

The Virgil Transfer Station is a truly marvelous community asset, and like any well-used facility, it requires ongoing care and investment. At this time, the town is in need of a new compactor, along with continued maintenance to keep the station running efficiently and safely. The additional revenue generated from this fee adjustment will go directly toward maintenance and improvement costs at the Transfer Station, helping ensure it remains a reliable and well-maintained resource for years to come.
